Citizens’ Declaration regarding the Public Debt Swindle

WE WILL NOT CONSENT TO IT
ENOUGH OF POLICIES IMPOSED ON PEOPLES
NOT ONE MORE CUT TO RIGHTS
STOP FINANCIAL SPECULATION
FOR A REAL DEMOCRACY NOW
…BECAUSE WE ARE NOT COMMODITIES IN THE HANDS OF POLITICIANS AND BANKERS
The so-called ‘markets’, which are nothing more than the big financial powers, the multinational firms such as Telefónica which sack thousands of workers at the same time as they earn billions of euro, or the banks that sit on the corners of our streets and play roulette with our money, continue to attack European states, and are about to sink new countries such as Italy and Spain, having already done so with Greece, Ireland and Portugal.
They created the crisis, it was down to them and governments’ malpractice that the states got into debt, and they now take advantage of the situation in order to impose on the peoples their own bailout as though it were for the nations they are about to drive into ruin.
All of us, women and men of all ages and conditions, young, mature, in employment or unemployed, of all ideological currents, and simply lovers of justice and real democracy and enemies of lies and greed
-That we reject the policies that are being implemented, which mean nothing other than a cut to social rights in order to benefit the banking sector and large firms, and which have no relation to the necessary policies for creating employment and exiting the crisis
-That there must be an end to financial speculation against sovereign states and that to this end we demand that the European authorities prevent this from happening, simply by urgently controlling capital flows, by stopping lending free money to the banking sector unless this comes with the firm guarantee that it will be used to fund economic growth, and by immediately establishing a tax on speculative financial operations that deters them permanently. There must be a guaranteed flow of money to small and medium enterprises, which are the ones that really create employment, by creating a public banking sector through the nationalisation of savings banks.
-That Europe cannot be built nor has it any future unless it is based on real democracy, and that the present subordination and complicity of its governments in relation to the financial powers is discreditable and suicidal.
-That we are not going to accept more measures taken to cut social rights in Spain, let alone another false ‘bailout’ such as those that have been carried out in other countries and which have only meant giving the people’s money to the banking sector that created the crisis. And that we are going to demand through all means[i] that the crisis will be paid for by those who caused it.
And by signing this declaration we expressly manifest OUR ACTIVE PERSONAL COMMITMENT TO DEFENDING IN THE STREET, ON THE WEB AND WHEREVER NECESSARY the social gains that have cost so much to obtain, to exercising our legitimate right to civil disobedience when political measures are taken behind the backs of the people without them having a say in matters, and that we will do all within our grasp so that the banks and bankers, who are the real guilty ones in this crisis, are made to pay for the damage they have done to society.
We the undersigned ask you to sign this declaration
